Around April 17 2016, Gang Senggol celebrated its first birthday. According to Nielsen Media Research, since its first arrival in Indonesian TV Channel, Gang Senggol has reached more about 4 million viewers in Indonesia. This program, which airs every 00.30 on Saturday, always brings the testimonies of people who have experience the helping hands of God when facing the challenges and struggles of everyday lives: from domestic violence, financial difficulties, chronic diseases, bad habits, and many more.
To appeal to its viewers, Gang Senggol always opens with light comedy drama with a theme that fits the testimonies about to be delivered to its viewers. The dialog between the unique characters of Gang Senggol is always fresh and funny. There is Tante Cella, the laundry-mat owner; Olin the security guard; and Jumirah, the beautiful food-seller. “The program functions as a guidance. There is not only comedy in there, but also moral values inspired by the Bible at the end of each episode delivered by the character of Pak RT,” said Yosaphat Eko M. as the Line Producer of the program. But does this program truly lives up to its mission of becoming a guidance to its viewers? You can find the answer in the following testimony.
My name is Lina, 32 year old, from Gunung Sitoli, North Sumatera. I am a housewife of a 6 year old marriage. I am blessed with 3 kids. In order to fulfill the daily needs of our family, my husband works as a driver. But no matter how hard he works, it is never enough for our family. I had tried many things to help my husband, but every single one of my effort led to dead-end. I have tried to apply as civil servant (PNS) several times, but I never could pass the test. I thought at that time, maybe God does not want to bless me. I was nearly out of hope, but then I discovered Gang Senggol program. The program is not only entertaining, it is also able to renew my faith through the testimonies of the people who have been helped by God. Posko Curhat team is also always there to support me through prayer. My desperation eventually turned to joy because of the program. Last February, I finally could pass the Civil Servant enrolment test. The whole series of events has reminded me to never blame God in my troubles. The wisdom that I learned is to instead be closer to Him when facing challenges.
We also feel great joy that Gang Senggol program can be a source of inspiration to its viewers, just like what Lina has experienced. There is only one goal: inspiring as many as possible people who are in trouble by the love of God. This goal is not something easy to achieve, and thus it constantly motivates us to innovate more and bring better and more creative programs. If we could reach out to around 4 million viewers last year, we are sure that with your support we can reach more people this year.
