God’s Answer to Ferdian’s Prayer

Do you believe that our prayers may change God’s heart? Do say yes because there is in fact a part in the Bible which mentions how a person managed to move God’s heart that He was willing to grant this person’s wishes. In 2 Kings 20:1-20, it is told how God was really fond of King Hizkia. Upon being diagnosed with fatal illness, Hizkia prayed in tears and begged to God for recovery. God was moved by his sincerity and sent Apostle Isaiah to deliver God’s promise to grant him recovery and bless him with longevity. What was even more amazing, to convince King Hizkia of the promise, God moved the shade of in the opposite direction. It was amazing to think how God went as far as to alter the way the universe works only to convince one man. Really amazing, isn’t it? Hizkia is an example from the past of how far God will go to answer the prayer of those who sincerely and truthfully believe in Him. What about us as His people in this modern time? Is such miracle still possible? Of course it is still possible, after all His promise never wears off with time. Ferdian Pasaribu, a Jakarta-based CBN Partner, has experienced this by himself.

Around May 2015, my wife got a text from the CBN Partner team to invite him to submit a content of a prayer,” Ferdian began his testimony. It was right on the Partner Prayer Day 2015, a celebratory day when all CBN staffs and crews dedicate some of their times to pray for all CBN Partners throughout Indonesia and other countries. Among those who submitted a prayer content for the celebration was Ferdian Pasaribu, a CBN Partner since May 24th 2013. “My biggest personal problem I think is to get married and to own a house, and at that time I thought Partner Prayer Day was the perfect occasion to ask for this through prayer,” he said. His desire to own a house was foregrounded by his longing to be able to live together with his wife and kid. “For around a year, I had lived in a rented house in Cikarang, not far from my office, while my wife and kid lived in her parents’ house in Depok. So back then I could only be with together with my family about once a week,” said Ferdi. To own a house was a really big milestone for Ferdi, but financial stability remained his biggest obstacle to achieve it. However, he never gave up, he kept including his wish in every single one of his prayers. 3 months after Ferdi was supported through the mass prayer in the Partner Prayer Day, God answered his prayer. “Around mid-September 2015, I was guided to look for a house, and not long after, around October my family already relocated to a house near my office,” he recounted. It did not even take a month before God really granted him a house for his family. It was amazing considering that he was still in financial difficulty at that time. “God really provided me with a lot of ways and opportunities, that in the end I had enough money to afford the house. Though to be honest, I did not really expect everything to happen so quickly, this was really all a miracle,” he concluded.

The story of King Hizkia and Ferdi’s testimony should remind us that no matter the problem and circumstances, we should not give up on hope. Instead, we should keep praying and relying on God, as a way to prove our faith in Him that His answer to our prayer shall come in time, as long as we ask Him according to His will (1 John 5:14).
